Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma Times newspaper. Caption: "Far back in the corner of the Oaklawn cemetery at Wewoka is a recently erected monument purchased for a stranger by a stranger. The memorial was purchased by Mrs. Junita Cifello of Newark, N.J. for Danny Lee Spann. She never saw Danny Lee, nor his parents who were charged with murder - and later convicted of manslaughter - in connection with their son's death. Duff Kennedy former deputy sheriff, shown at the grave sight recalls being called out to the Spann home to investigate the alleged mistreatment for the child. " I wanted to adopt the boy but was not permitted to." " Danny Lee's coner of the cemetery now looks peacful and not too lonsome since the monument has been set." The inscription engraved on the marble stone is fitting. For peace is something Danny Lee probably never knew in his short young life. He was only 5."
