Opened envelope sent from the S.D. Myres Saddle Company and addressed to D.W. Voorhies, postmarked September 1935. The front of the envelope is decorated with a logo in the upper-left corner -- with the text "S.D. Myres Saddle Co., El Paso, Texas, Cowboy Supplies. Be Happy - Ride A Myres Saddle" -- and an illustration of a cowboy in the lower-right corner holding a lasso that runs across the top of the envelope and around the logo.

Handwritten notes about dates, locations, and activities related to the life of S. D. Myres including his birth (1871), buying a saddle shop (1897), and move to El Paso (1919). The notes are disjointed and the edges of the paper are damaged.

Letter from Tex Polk to Sam Myres saying that he had heard from a local saddle maker about Myres moving his business to El Paso; Polk says he believes that that will be a good move for the business due to the central location of El Paso. He also asks Myres if he has any positions open because Polk would love to work for him. It's written on personal letterhead.

Membership card for Sweetwater Chapter Number 236 of the Royal Arch Masons (R.A.M.) with the text: "This Certifies Companion __S. D. Myres__ Has paid dues to __June 24, 1953__ $1 of your annual dues goes to the maintenance of the Home for Aged Masons, Arlington, Texas." The seal of the masonic group is printed on the card behind the text, inside a raised stamp for the local chapter. The back of the card has text from the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas, with the group's seal.

Envelope sent from Mose Newman and addressed to W. J. Myres, president of S. D. Myres Saddle Company, in El Paso. The envelope has three stamps and has various word printed on it such as "DO NOT BEND" and "HAND STAMP ONLY." There are also some handwritten notes on both sides of the envelope.

Ration book application and identification stub belongingto Marjorie N. Forester in Roscoe, Texas. The identification stub has instructions that read: "After completing this application, tear off this stub and be sure to keep it until you get your war ration book no. 3." The application says it must be mailed between June 1 and June 10, 1943.

Portrait of Fred H. Leonard with a uniform drawn on. The text on the bottom of the picture has information concerning his role in the military, his birth and death dates/locations, and the medals he won: "Fred H. Leonard, Co E. 27th Inf. Div. Born June 6, 1908, Roscoe, Texas Killed on Jan. 12, 1943 at [Guadalcanal] Purple Heart, Parents M. L. Leonards Roscoe, TX."

Ration book issued to Marjorie N. Forester, a house wife of a soldier overseas; the front cover contains information about Forester's address, sex, weight, height, age, and occupation. This book has four sheets of stamps inserted into the middle.

Letter from C. K. Griggs to his son Charles R. Griggs concerning daily life back home; the letter actually is written by Charles' mother as she says "Daddy and I were hot and hostess at the USO for Sunday night." Later she discusses the new lace cloth being made and saying that cloth at home runs "from 10 cents to 25 cents per yard."

Letter to Charles R. Griggs from his parents wishing him a happy Easter while he is overseas. The bulk of the letter discusses daily life back home in Texas, including their work on the house and yard; at the end they ask Charles to send them the address of a boy in his company that is without parents as they would "like to be mother and dad to him." The back of the letter has a quote that reads: "My Easter prayer for you is this: That you may have a goodly part Of all the beauty of the day - Its joy, its hope, its peace of heart!"

Letter from C. K. Griggs to his son Captain Charles R. Griggs telling him that they are not worrying too strongly about him while he is away; his parents did not want to think they did not care about him. C. K. Griggs describes what is going at home, "Otto Carter is home from the Pacific, he and Lillain Pratt are to be married soon."

Certificate of retirement from the "Armed Forces of the United States of America" to Lieutenant Colonel Charles R. Griggs. The certificate reads: "To All Who Shall See These Presents, Greeting: This Is To Certify That Lieutenant Colonel Charles R. Griggs...Was Retired From The United States Army." This certificate was signed by the Chief of Staff of the United States Army, Edward C. Meyer; there is a letter from W. T. Prescott accompanying the certificate with details of Griggs' status on the retired list.

Western Union telegram from Ida Mae and Thurman to Mr. and Mrs. G. W. [McReynolds] with a note saying: "DAD DUNCAN DIED SATURDAY PM FUNERAL SUNDAY 5 PM= IDA MAE AND THURMAN."

Letter to Lieutenant Colonel Charles R. Griggs from his wife, Ingrid, back home. Ingrid tells him that she has just finished "painting the upstairs bathroom" and that it was exhausting work. Finally she tells him: "Be sure you don't let your lecherous eyes linger on anybody keep if all for me."

Tax refund check in the amount of $10.68 paid to Charles L. Nunn in Sweetwater, Texas. The check has the signature of Paul D. Banning in the bottom right corner.

Speech given by Judge Terry Julian to the men of Company E of the 36th Division at their reunion on May 17, 1986 in Sweetwater, Texas. The speech mostly discusses the history of the company, when it was organized, where it was moved to, where the men came from, and the casualties they suffered during World War II.
