Oral History Interview with Mary Tolbert, July 22, 2016

Mrs. Tolbert was born in 1943 in Cleveland. Tolbert grew up in Houston until she moved to Conroe in the 4th grade. Tolbert attended school in Bordersville while living in Houston. In Bordersville the neighborhood was integrated with a Mexican American and African American population. Tolbert graduated from Booker T. Washington in Conroe. She began working for law enforcement in 1984 after a few years of attempting. Tolbert experienced and witnessed explicit discrimination, racism, and sexism while working as a Deputy Sheriff in Montgomery County. Tolbert currently mentors young girls.

A pamphlet from the War Savings Division of the Federal Reserve to American public schools with instructions for the celebration of Victory Savings Week, a national celebration and pledge drive for the first anniversary of World One One's end. Included are letters addressed to principals, teachers, and parents, specific instructions for schools on how to organize events and collect money pledges during the week, and lyrics for "thrift songs" to be sung. Plow Mold Board.

Patent for a new and improved plow mold board. This design "consists of a circular roll arranged in the mold-board near the point and covered with belting, which, in the forward movement of the plow, is revolved and carries the earth backward on an endless belt passing around rollers journaled in the end of transverse slots made in the mold-board, whereby, in the forward movement of the plow, the belt is revolved and the friction of the earth on the mold-board decreased and the plow scoured" (lines 17-28).
