Video footage from the KXAS-TV/NBC station in Fort Worth, Texas, covering a news story about advances in technology that allow the more accurate prediction of severe storm movement and more advanced warning for communities in the storm path. The story also discusses storms that were on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) list of top weather events in terms of damage and cost including the 1900 hurricane in Galveston, Texas, the 1993 Hurricane Andrew in South Florida and Louisiana, the great Midwest flood of 1993, and El Nino related weather events in the early 1980s and late 1990s. This footage includes storm damage, archival footage of Galveston, meteorologists at work at the National Weather Service, and an unidentified man speaking about the history of weather systems. This footage was broadcast at 5pm.
