The problem of this study is to analyze the reasons for attendance and lack of attendance at Parent-Teacher Association meetings of sixty selected parents of the Parent-Teacher Association in the Robert E. Lee School, Denton, Texas.

The purpose of this study is to show the results of an investigation into the relations of Sunday school attendance with peer acceptance and teacher ratings.

The purpose of the study was to compare the social acceptance of the Negro and white children in the second, fourth, and fifth grades of the Demonstration School associated with the North Texas State Teachers College and the Fred Douglass Negro School, Denton, Texas, and to record the extent of change over a period of time.

This study examines the relationship between whether the level of independence a first-grade age child was permitted at home influenced his social behavior at school.

The purpose which guided the writer in the conducting of this study was a desire to determine the existence of any relationships which might be perceptible among such traits and considerations as socio-economic status, popularity at school, general scholastic achievement, and traits of personality as they were found in a group of fifth-grade pupils enrolled in the public school of Sanger, Texas.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether boys and girls who were not accepted by the group could be developed and trained to such an extent that they would become acceptable. Secondarily, the purpose was to discover what types of classroom and extra-curricular activities were desirable and beneficial in a program of social development for fifth-grade pupils.

The purpose of this study is to appraise the opportunities offered to the pupils of Sam Houston school; to gain experiences through self interests and democratic procedures; to develop procedures which may determine the changes taking place in these boys and girls and thereby enable the writer to discover the degree to which the school is accomplishing its significant educational purposes. Suggestions of criticisms will be incorporated; however, it is not the intended purpose of this study to suggest or criticize.

We propose in this study to give a brief review of the workshop project as carried on at the Denton Senior High School, Denton, Texas, during the six-weeks summer session of 1940. While the purpose of this paper is not to give an evaluation of the program, we shall point out some of the best points and suggest a few items which might be improved.

The problem selected for study in the present research project is to determine the reading interests of freshman, sophomore, junior, senior, and graduate students enrolled in the North Texas State Teachers College, Denton, Texas, during the first semester of the 1942-1943 school year.

The problem of this investigation is to determine the part that mental hygiene should and could assume in promoting the general efficiency of the educational program in the elementary grades.

The problem of this thesis is to show the relationship between liberalism, radicalism, conservatism and certain associated factors.

The problem in this investigation has a three-fold purpose; namely, (1) to reveal, by means of comparison, the likenesses and differences in the personalities of elementary and secondary education majors of N. T. S. T. C.; (2) to determine to what extent the individual is adjusting himself to the problems and conditions confronting him, and how these problems are affecting the development of a normal, happy, and socially effective personality; (3) to interpret the data collected correctly, in order that better adjusted personalities may be developed.

As a result of the upheaval in educational theories and practices, many new philosophies and methods have appeared. Among them is the subject of integration in the elementary school curriculum. Much has been written regarding its meaning and application. An interest in the subject prompted the writer to choose as a thesis subject the problem of what could be done to integrate the fifth-grade curriculum through the language arts subjects in the Stonewall Jackson Elementary School, Denton, Texas.

Determination of gains made in reading comprehension and the relationship of these gains to the academic success of 545 college freshmen of North Texas State Teachers College is the main consideration of this study.

The following study was undertaken to discover some of the ways in which high school students who are popular differ from those who are not so popular.

The purpose of this study is to determine which items on a personality rating scale are most valid in describing individuals who have been selected on the basis of social acceptance.

One of the problems in human relationships is to determine what factors enter into friendship. One method of investigating this is to study traits as compared between reciprocal and unreciprocal friendships. This present study is an effort to make contributions towards this problem.

The purposes of this study are as follows: 1. To measure, compare, and evaluate the level of self-esteem of college women in two colleges. 2. To show the relationship of certain background factors to dominance-feeling in college women.

The purposes involved in this paper are stated as follows: (1) To present data on the intellectual development of the deaf and hard of hearing children. (2) To present case studies of the deaf and hard of hearing children. (3) To present data bearing on the relationship between audio-deficiency and academic achievements of the deaf and the hard of hearing children. (4) To present data on personality traits of a comparable group of hard of hearing and normal children.

The intent and purposes of this study are (1) to discover the extent of the guidance needs and problems which confront the women students in North Texas State Teachers College and the extent to which the students are adjusting and developing into normal and socially effective individuals; (2) to interpret the data collected from the individual questionnaires in order that plans for a more adequate and effective guidance program may be made, and to offer a functional basis for individual and group guidance; and (3) to measure their present needs and problems in relation to personal and social adjustments as individuals and as groups.

The problem reported in this thesis was one whose purpose was to determine, if possible, the relative value of gains in civic knowledge, skills, and attitudes growing out of a course in eighth-grade community civics as compared with those derived from a course in traditional eighth-grade history. An interesting phase of the study was the tabulation of losses in civic knowledge, skills, and attitudes and an attempt on the part of the writer to account for them. Chiefly, however, the study concerns itself with progress in social and civic thinking on the part of eighth-grade pupils.

The study examines social acceptance factors among elementary school-aged children.

The problem of this study is to discover and to point out with the aid of tables the changes which have occurred, and the most important factors affecting the growth and development of the public school system of Denton County during the period 1900-1942.

The problem involved in this research was a comparative study of the educational philosophy of the 1943 Child Development Workshop at the North Texas State Teachers College, as expressed by consultants and participants, and John Dewey's principles of education.
