Dallas County probate record regarding the case of Ross, W.W. (died November 14, 1899) and A.J. Ross (Executor or Guardian). William W. Ross was born 30-March, 1821 and is buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Ross Avenue in Dallas was named after he and his brother Andrew Ross.

Patent for a new and improved cloth-cutting machine. This design "relates to cloth-cutting apparatus, and particularly to that class wherein the fabric or other material to be cut is operated upon by revolving cutters; and it has for its object to provide devices of this character which may be enabled to cut the goods by a continuous forward movement of the said cutters" (lines 9-15).

Patent for a new and improved flour and meal bin and flour sifter. Patent for a new and improved combined chimney and ventilator. This design consists "[i]n a combined ventilator and smoke-flue, a series of pipes or flues having a sectional inclosing casing extending from the ceiling of a room and adapted to receive a stove-pipe, the lower drum or casing being provided with a series of openings, and having an annular flange, the top casing being located without the building, having its lower end within the space between the roof and ceiling, and braces, said upper casing having a downwardly-extending flange at its lower end" (lines 18-28).

Patent for a new and improved churn. This design "relates to improvements in rotary churns; and it consists in the combination of the dasher-staff made screw-threaded at its upper end, and having a dasher secured to its lower one; a pinion which is applied to the screw-threaded part of the shaft, and which has a rising and falling movement thereon; the driving-wheel which operates the two pinions, and through them the two dashers, and the sleeve, which is connected to the lower pinion and one of the dashers" (lines 13-23).

Patent for a new and improved bed-spring. This design consists in "the adjustable tie that connects the springs beneath the slats. This device is simple, cheap, convenient, and durable. It is adjustable to slats placed at different distances apart, and will remain in position when placed upon the slats, holding the diagonal rows of springs in a straight line, causing the springs to remain uniform all over the bed" (lines 72-80).
