Slingback shoes

Pair of sling-back pumps of black calf leather. Shoes have a narrow platform and are open toe. Rounded throat on vamp, which is decorated with applied oval detailing in 3 layers. Center layer of black grosgrain, upper and lower layers of black leather. Oval cut-out in center of detail. Ankle-strap fastens with small rectangular black metal buckles. 3" black-lacquered French set-under heel similar to a spike form. Handwritten in side of each shoe: "6 1/2 B / r28514 / 1510-6BF" Stamped inside both shoes: "Palter DeLiso / Capri / Last" Stamped in left shoe: "Palter DeLiso inc / New York City" Right shoe with inlaid woven cloth label: "Neiman Marcus Co. Dallas / Fenwyn / Trade Mark Reg'd" Measurements: Size: 6 1/2 B; 21 cm. long; 8 cm. at widest; 14 cm. at highest; Heel: 8.4 cm. (3") high along axis with cap.

Coat ensemble of black African inspired print in rows of stylized animals, spiral/concentric circles and lines on gold background. a) Dress. Street length; long, full dolman sleeves. High, straight neckline. Skirt gathers at natural waist. Center back zipper closure with hook & eyes at neckline. Unlined; shoulder pads. b) Coat of black wool jersey with matching African print lining. Styled with cape shoulders that become a hood. Attached full length scarf. No closure; shoulder pads. Designer label: Adrian / Original Note: Print is in a style variously described as "jungle"; "Egyptian"; and "Greek Geometric Period".

Photograph of an aerial shot of part of a 305-acre farm. The back of the photograph proclaims, “This 305 ac. Farm is bounded by the road in the foreground & by the railroad & highway in the background, railroad can be identified by telegraph poles. The terraces & grain strips where terraces will be constructed empty into pasture strip in immediate foreground. Strips in background empty into lovegrass channel parallel with railroad which empties into pasture strip coming down from railroad & joining into pasture in left center. It is expected that this farm will be one of the outstanding examples of soil & water conservation in the Dalworth District. Terraces seen in the picture were constructed in fall of 1946. 4.2 miles of terraces were constructed in fall of 1947 & spring of 1947. Terraces on grain strips will be constructed in fall of 1947."

A letter written to T. N. Carswell from Omar Radford, Dallas 16, Texas, dated April 10, 1947. Radford expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell of March the 6th in which he said so many nice things about him, but he advises that "you do not find many men in this day and age who are square shooters". Radford lists several qualities of Abilene noting that it is "well located for the making of a good city" and Camp Barkeley is ideal for some kind of plant.

Formal dinner dress of black crepe. Full length. Long sleeves have wide elbow cuffs of orange crepe; orange crepe continues from elbow to wrist; zippered wrists. Square neckline bound in black net at bottom; neckline forms very light revers at sides. Drop waist gathers in front and forms draped gathered panels in back which join at the center back.
