Black silk crepe ensemble: A) Cape. Waist-length with double-bow made of silk covered piping on front. Single self-covered button and loop. Designer's label at edge: "Noriko / Chicago" B) Skirt. Full-length, of three layers with curving "tiers". Elastic waistband. Designer's label at inner waistband: "Noriko / Chicago".

Hatlet of brown velvet. The open-crown hat is formed of a hollow square with down-turned sides and corners, covered in brown velvet and edged in tiny pearls. "Flying" around the hat are 8 golden stamped metal hummingbirds. One wing of each bird is hinged, allowing movement of the birds as the wearer moves their head. Over all is a brown net veil "capturing" the hummingbirds, with scattered gathers of 4 pearls. The underside is edged in brown grosgrain ribbon, and has two small plastic combs attached to secure hatlet to wearer's head. Sewn onto the inner ribbon is maker's label: "Bes-Ben / Made in Chicago". Also sewn onto inner ribbon is hand-written label "917". Measurements: 14 x 15 cm. without net; 10 cm. from base of brim to highest tip of bird wing.

Deep v-neckline in back. Attached self sash in front with two tiers of fabric at center back, covering closure. "Frances / Heffernan / Winnetka / Illinois", located at center back neck inside.

Hat of beige velour. Styled as a modified calotte (also spelled "calot"), the hat has a low domed crown and narrow rolled brim with extends slightly more in front to form a "visor" shape. Set at front of hat is an ornament of crossed large white and beige feathers, and smaller gray and white ones. Underside of visor lined with an off-white jersey-like material, and the hat has an inner hatband of dark gray beige grosgrain ribbon overlaid with silver rickrack and pink lace. Hat of ivory leather. Narrow brim curves up in back and down in front. High cylindrical crown. Entire hat has horizontal top stitching with exception of narrow hatband. Calotte style hat of light brown satin. Brim is trimmed in brown and yellow velvet strawberry clusters with green and brown velvet leaves. Lined in rose colored brocade of floral design. Inner headband of pink grosgrain ribbon trimmed with cinnamon colored lace embellished with pink embroidered flower with rhinestone center at front. Maker's label on inside headband: "Paris / Chapeaux / Chicago"

Turban of black satin. The low crown has pleating running lengthwise along crown, gathering at front where it is embelished with a crescent-shaped pin of various sized clear rhinestones. Inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband. Designer's label: "Shelia / the perfect hat / Chicago"

Child's poke-type bonnet of white silk. Completely shirred and trimmed with white satin ribbon, outlined with lace. High crown to which circular shirred flange has been added. Label inside crown mostly illegible; last word is "Chicago".

Calotte style hat of black velvet. Crown has cut-away sections that expose net lining. At front left and right are pink and blue faceted decorative stone trim pieces edged in white pearl beads. Short black net veil with chenille dots. Stamp on inside crown: "Made in France" Designer's label: "Hattie Carnegie / Inc. / Original" Retailer's label below designer's label: "Weathered / Misses Shop / Chicago"

Hat of black felt. "Pancake" style hat with low, domed crown of black felt slightly "puffed out" at top. Around base of crown is tied ribbon made of white Birdseye pique, with self bow at each side. Hat has wide circular black felt brim, set slightly off-center to back around crown. Inner black grosgrain ribbon hatband. Black felt back strap lined with black grosgrain ribbon secure hat to wearer's head.
