The problem in this study is twofold. First, there will be an attempt to determine the values that organizations in the secondary school have for the development of its students. Second, a survey will be made of the four-year accredited high schools in District Five of Texas to determine how and to what extent they are realizing their responsibilities in this respect.

This study is an attempt to show the extent of and the probable causes for reading difficulties, to give remedial procedure, and to record results for twenty second-grade pupils of the Elementary School, Plano, Texas. An intensive study of the twenty children was made with emphasis upon the improvement of reading ability. This study deals primarily with the investigate of factors in the creation of reading disabilities.

The problem under consideration in this study is to determine the constancy of sociometric scores in their relationship to the constancy of scores of some measures of achievement within a group of thirty-seven children enrolled in an elementary school of McKinney, Texas.

This study was selected to determine the relation of reading readiness to the mental, physical, personal, and social factors of a group of low first-grade pupils of the Plano Elementary School, Plano, Texas during the first five months of the school year 1949-1950. This study involves consideration of (1) mental readiness, (2) physical readiness, and (3) personal and social readiness as factors of child development.

More specifically, an attempt was made to answer the question, "Why do employers hold favorable or unfavorable attitudes toward the hiring of the retarded?"

The purpose of this study is two-fold: (1) to evaluate an instrument for measuring the self-concept of middle grade children; and (2) to determine the relationship of a middle-grade child's self-concept to his peer status, his classification by the teacher as a problem in behavior or classroom management, and to his academic achievement.
