Galveston Area (ARMS-II)
Report describing an Aerial Radiological Measuring Survey (ARMS) of the Galveston Area between Jan. 27 and Feb. 17, 1962. The survey was part of a nationwide program to measure present environmental levels of gamma radiation. Aerial measurements of ground radioactivity were consistent everywhere with what was expected considering the geology of the area.

Interim Report: Faret Experimental Program
From Introduction: "The Fast Reactor Test (FARET) program is part of the United States Fast Reactor Program directed toward the demonstration of breeder reactors essential to the long-range goal of utilizing fertile fuels. (1) With-in this program is the current thinking that the early construction and operation of two or three prototype nuclear power plants of the order of 250 Mw(e) will lead eventually to the construction of practical and economic full scale breeder reactors by the early 1980's. Aeroradioactivity Survey and Areal Geology of Parts of Southeastern New York and Southern New England (ARMS-I)
Report concerning "[a]n airborne gamma-radiation survey of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and parts of New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont" (p. 5) made between 1958 and 1960 that indicated that a broad range of radioactivity exists in those areas depending on the type of bedrock. Correlations are drawn between this radioactivity and the geology of the region.

Helium-Bearing Natural Gases of the United States: Analyses, Second Supplement to Bulletin 486
Supplementary report from the U.S. Bureau of Mines regarding the results of a survey of the natural gas (helium) resources available in the United States. From the summary: "Results of analyses by the Bureau of Mines of 1,444 samples from oil and gas wells and natural gas pipelines collected from 23 states are presented in the Bulletin in tabular form. The information is from samples collected in the period May 1956 to January 1961 and supplements earlier publications" (p. 1). The summary also notes that the samples include several new sources in Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah, which were discovered after May 1956 and found to be unlike the samples from previous reports.
