Diameter Measurements of Slugs Before and After Prolonged Heat Treatment (open access)

Diameter Measurements of Slugs Before and After Prolonged Heat Treatment

Abstract: "Diameter measurements of 25 slugs taken before and after a prolonged heat treatment showed no evidence of differences that would indicate blistering. The average effects of the treatment was different for the various slugs. Large differences in diameter measurements between slugs. Large differences in diameter between slugs and significant differences between indices and positions were found."

Effect of Routing Upon Temperature of Cooling Stream (open access)

Effect of Routing Upon Temperature of Cooling Stream

With discussion under way concerning power production by chain reacting piles, it becomes pertinent to consider the ration of the temperature of the hottest spot in the pile to the average exit temperature of the cooling stream. This is important because the temperature of the hottest spot in the pile is one of the limiting factors in determining the maximum power at which a pile can be operated. However, the higher the temperature of the emerging cooling stream, the more efficient can be the thermal engine operated by it. Thus the ideal situation is to have the average exit temperature of the cooling stream as near as possible to the hottest temperature of the hottest spot in the pile.

A Microdetermination of Uranium by Ferric Sulfate Titration (open access)

A Microdetermination of Uranium by Ferric Sulfate Titration

Abstract: "Following nitrate removal by means of a three-stage hydrochloric acid digestion, uranium was reduced with chromous sulfate reagent. In an inert atmosphere, the quadrivalent uranium was titrated at 80-95[degrees] with standard ferric sulfate solution. The end point was obtained with a potentiometric cell including a platinum in-titrant reference electrode and a platinum indicator electrode. Application was made to various low leverl uranium solutions. For samples containing 1 - 12 milligrams or uranium, less than one percent error may be expected. Iron and chromium do not interfere."

Optimum Conditions for the "Hot Zone" Volatilization of TClâ‚„ (open access)

Optimum Conditions for the "Hot Zone" Volatilization of TClâ‚„

Abstract: "The data reported herein furnish a qualitative comparison of the rapidity of vaporization of TCl4 at various "hot zone" temperatures as well as a measure of the chlorine evolution attributed to its thermal decomposition. The presence of impurities in the TCl4 detracts from the significance of the reported chlorine evolution. The temperature recommended for rapid volatilization is 750 C at which TCl4 underwent thermal decomposition amounting to no more than 0.2% by weight."

Tabulation or Ore Reserves and Past Production for the Uranium-Vanadium Region of Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona

The tabulations on these pages include all of the known areas in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona having economically important uranium-vanadium deposits of the type which are generally referred to by the terms roscoe-lite and/or carnotite. Though similar deposits are known to exist in other areas they are to be viewed as being little more than mineralogical curiosities.
