Abstract: Weak uranium mineralization is widespread throughout the Uinta Basin of northeastern Utah and northwestern Colorado, in rocks ranging in age from Permian to Eocene. No commercial ore bodies are known, although formations there have characteristics elsewhere considered favorable for ore deposition.

The following report describes samples of simplotite, a new calcium tetravanadite, that was discovered in five vanadium-uranium mines in the Colorado Plateau.

From abstract: Experimental simulation of Colorado Plateau type uranium deposits is divided into seven parts. The first three summarize the essential features of geological occurrence for the ores. The last four parts outline the results of experimental investigation arranged according to each geological group of features influencing mode of occurrence.

From Introduction: "In the Uravan and Gateway districts, the general character of the bedding in the ore-bearing sandstone and amount of alteration in associated mudstones, and the relation of these to each other, are the features most useful as large-scale guides. This report describes these features and their distribution, as well as some other significant geologic characteristics of the ore-bearing sandstone."

Report issued by the Bureau of Mines over an annual study of synthetic liquid fuel production. Results of the annual study are discussed. This report includes maps, tables, illustrations, and photographs.

From abstract: Pitchblende, associated with base-metal sulfides, has been found at eight localities in the northern part of Jefferson County, Colo., in shear zones that cut pre-Cambrian metamorphic and igneous rocks, chiefly hornblende gneiss, biotite schist, and granite pegmatite. The pitchblende deposits, with one exception, are in major shear zones that contain vein-like bodies of carbonate-rich breccia. The breccia bodies range from 1 to 5 feet in thickness and are related probably to the Laramide faults, or "breccia reefs" of similar trend, mapped by Lovering and Goddard (1950).

From abstract: Recorded production of pitchblende in the United States totals 313 tons of ore containing about 15 percent uranium. Of this total, 303 tons was produced at Central City and 8 tons at Lawson prior to World War I. The remaining 2 tons has been mined at Caribou during the past two years and is being stockpiled at the mine.

From abstract: Eight tons of high grade pitchblende ore was sold from the Jo Reynolds mine near Lawson, Clear Creek County, Colo., in 1919. The pitchblende occurs with silver, lead, and zinc in carbonate-quartz veins cutting pre-Cambrian schist, granite gneiss, and granite.
