This report documents the findings from an onsite audit of the John Seiberling Federal building located in Akron, Ohio. The Federal landlord for this building is the General Services Administration (GSA). The focus of the audit was to identify various no-cost or low-cost energy efficiency opportunities that, once implemented, would reduce in either electrical and gas consumption and increase the operational efficiency of the building. This audit also provided an opportunity to identify potential capital cost projects that should be considered in the to acquire additional energy (electric and gas) and water savings to further increase the operational efficiency of the building.

Engineering Study of Evaporation for Concentrating Radioactive Liquid Wastes : Engineering Research Final Report
Summary: "The problem of evaporation of secondary radioactive wastes resulting from waste disposal studies at Mound Laboratoy has been studied experimentally to determine the fundamental design characteristics of a plant size unit. Emphasis, of course, was on decontamination, but the factors affecting foaming and scaling also had to be investigated and evaluated. Generally speaking, the final design is a standard type of evaporator, the only unique feature being the relation of the two effects. Where critical, as affecting performance, the particular design features have been specified."

Improvement in Policemen's Batons.
Patent for an improved policemen's baton made of flexible material, such as india-rubber or gutta-percha, and sometimes an interior metal stem. Using a flexible material makes the baton elastic enough so that no serious injury can be caused, yet it is still effective. Illustration included.

Dredging Apparatus.

Alfalfa on Corn-Belt Farms
"Alfalfa, on Corn Belt farms, if introduced in any considerable acreage, requires a great amount of labor at the most critical stage of the cultivation of corn. This bulletin tells how the more successful Corn Belt growers fit alfalfa into their cropping systems without interfering seriously with labor schedules. This is done in the main by speeding up the haying operations and corn cultivation by the use of labor-saving implements and more efficient methods. To some extent, the use of alfalfa for pasture serves to reduce the labor difficulties. The methods of handling the alfalfa crop that have been worked out by some of the more experienced Corn Belt growers are illustrated by several concrete examples of good management. The material for this bulletin was obtained on 235 Corn Belt farms on which alfalfa is grown successfully." -- p. 2
