This website served as the focal point for the Deepwater Horizon Unified Command, a group of organizations that had involvement with the British Petroleum (BP) explosion and oil spill that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. The website includes news feeds and information about health concerns, volunteer opportunities, contact information, and ongoing plans for the area. Various maps of the event and other resources are also available, chronicling the problem and the steps taken by the member organizations to deal with the effects.

Report describing the geology of the land-pebble phosphate district on the Gulf Coastal Plain of Florida. This district is mapped out and the formation of land-pebble phosphate deposits is shown.

The following document contains two reports providing results from reconnaissance missions in Florida. These missions tested the radioactivity in Florida sands and the radioactivity in phosphates and rocks found in Florida.

From purpose and scope: The purpose of the investigation was to make a preliminary evaluation of the effects of the Faka Union Canal system on water levels in the Fakahatchee Strand. The evaluation includes more of a data collected specifically for the report as well as other data.

From introduction: This report presents some borehole data-collection methods that can be used during the drilling of ROMP or other wells where data collection is a prime objective. Hydraulic, water-quality, and geophysical data-collection methods applicable to the hydrogeology of west-central Florida are emphasized.

This report provides survey information for the Biscayne Aquifer in Florida. Includes maps and tables.

From purpose and scope: Concern by officials of both Everglades National Park and Dade County about the effects of development of land in the East Everglades for various uses created the need for additional information on the hydrology of this wetland. The hydrology of wetlands is also a major thrust of the U.S. Geological Survey. Because of this mutual interest, the U.S. Geological Survey and Dade County have cooperated in a study of one element of wetland hydrology--the effects that certain land uses have on the surface-water quality (Metropolitan Dade County Planning Department, 1978, p. 49-52).

Purpose and scope: This report is intended to identify many of the causes of saline-water intrusion into freshwater aquifers in Lee County, and to describe some of the effects of the intrusion on ground-water quality. Particular emphasis is placed on saline-water intrusion as related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of wells drilled primarily for water-supply, and to the plugging of wells that are no longer used.

From abstract: This report critically reviews historical precipitation data collected by the U.S. Geological Survey and concludes that the while the data "may reflect local atmospheric quality conditions they likely do not define baseline conditions from a regional perspective." It contains maps, graphs, and tables.
