Summary of Work on the Mineralogy and Petrography of Southeast Phosphates Through April 1952
From abstract: "In this report the mineralogy and uranium contents of southeast phosphates are discussed with reference to the lithologic units of the Hawthorn and Bone Valley formations and to waste slimes. In addition, the immediate problem of sampling leached-zone rock for process development studies is discussed and plans for future work (fiscal 1953) are presented."

Research Plan for Marine Turtle Fibropapilloma
The following report is the results of a workshop held to determine the cause of fibropapilloma (lobulated tumors), thereby ultimately leading to solutions and effective strategies for containment. The urgent need to solve this problem arises from the unanimous belief among the workshop participants that this disease will continue to affect populations of turtles locally and worldwide, adding further to their survival difficulties. The workshop was held in December of 1990 and the research behind the workshop results from about 10 years of observing the species.

Saline-Water Intrusion Related to Well Construction in Lee County, Florida
Purpose and scope: This report is intended to identify many of the causes of saline-water intrusion into freshwater aquifers in Lee County, and to describe some of the effects of the intrusion on ground-water quality. Particular emphasis is placed on saline-water intrusion as related to the construction, operation, and maintenance of wells drilled primarily for water-supply, and to the plugging of wells that are no longer used.

Salt-Water Movement in the Lower Withlacoochee-Cross-Florida Barge Canal Complex
The intent of the investigation was to determine how salt water from the Gulf moves in the river-canal complex under the influence of various combinations of fresh-water discharge and ocean tide. Information about the extent of inland movement, concentration, frequency of occurrence, and residence times of salt water in the river and canal was sought, particularly during times of farthest upstream movement of the salt water.

Distribution and Origin of Phosphate in the Land-Pebble Phosphate District of Florida
From abstract: The land-pebble phosphate district of Florida is a part of the Gulf Coastal Plain. The geologic formations cropping out in the district are the Miocene Hawthorn, Pliocene Bone Valley, and Pleistocene terrace sands. The Bone Valley formation consists of a lower strongly phosphatic unit and an upper less phosphatic unit. This paper is concerned principally with the lower unit, which contains the bulk of the minable phosphate deposits of the district.
