Patent for a new and improved flour sieve. This design has an "upwardly-flaring outer wall . . . and the inner more flattened conical guide-wall, provided with the wire-cloth stretched across its top and about its upper edge, said guide-wall being sprung into or secured to the crease of the outer wall, the latter extending downward to the level of the discharge" (lines 19-27). This results in "more accurately directed . . . deposit than if the opening were as large as that of the outer wall" (lines 59-61).

Patent for a new and improved hay knife. This design "consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the forked frame, the lever pivoted thereto, slotted at one end and carrying at the other end a cutting-blade working through bearings in the fork, the crank pivoted to the frame and engaging the slot of the lever, and the pressure-head or cross-bar connected to the outer end of the frame" (lines 18-26).

Patent for a new End-Gate Fastener, accompanied by several illustrations of form and function. Specific claims to the End-Gate Fastener include: transverse rods designed to mount device for easy removable and replacement of device on wagons, transverse rods designed for sliding to connect rods inside a wagon or door, associated rods which can be used to restrict outward movement of rods in the fastener when placed under tensions, and the combination of the wagon body with the end gate once the fastener as been installed.
