Patent for a new and improved cuff holder. This design "is chiefly to render cuffs hitherto buttoned to shirt-sleeves as readily attached or buttoned to coat-sleeves, in order that they may be removed from the wearer's person together with the coat to prevent the cuffs being soiled; and its object is also to avoid unbuttoning and buttoning cuffs to the shirt by means of the usual cuff-attaching buttons" (lines 24-32).

Patent for a steam-engine that has "no dead-center" (lines 15-16), and "a volume of one full port will always be exerted on a piston" (lines 18-19). "The full power of the steam will be applied when the crank is on the quarter and there is the greatest leverage in favor of the engine" (lines 21-24). Steam supply is regulated automatically and has a shutoff system in case anything breaks.

Voter Identification Requirements: Background and Legal Issues
Since 2008, more than 30 states have enacted laws relating to voter identification, with several containing photo ID requirements. Several states enacted voter identification laws that have either been struck down by courts or are not yet in effect. A number of bills with voter identification provisions have been introduced in the 113th Congress and one (S. 1945) has received committee consideration. This report examines this type of legislation and the legal issues regarding it.

The American Steel Industry: A Changing Profile
The U.S. steel industry has faced increasing difficulties since the late 1990s. About 40 U.S. steel producers have gone into bankruptcy. While different companies and parts of the industry have been affected to different degrees, the two types of domestic producers of raw steel, integrated mills and minimills, have both supported restrictions on imports, which they say have undermined the ability of the U.S. industry to produce steel economically. This report reviews industry developments and the economic situation of the steel industry, including legacy cost aspects of its problems.
