Color halftone postcard of the Gables Cafe, Marshall, Texas, taken at night sometime after a 1974 rebuilding. The illuminated signs include a large rectangular sign supported by two posts in front of the entrance that says "The Gables Restaurant" and a rooftop sign that says "The Gables Cafe." Another sign with smaller letters runs along the ridge of the roof and says "Home of the Little Loaf of Bread." Automobiles and a pickup truck are parked in the parking log in front. There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. The caption on the back names the hosts as Amy and Troy Hammons. [First Baptist Church, 405 West Austin, Marshall, Texas]

Color halftone postcard of the First Baptist Church in Marshall, Texas, 405 W. Austin St. The main sanctuary building is a gable front red brick building with bell tower and steeple on top of the front gable and a pedimented classical entrance porch projecting from the facade. A smaller similar chapel building is to its left, with an education or office wing behind it. All the buildings are faced with red brick. The buildings are on a corner lot, and a stop sign, directional signs, and street signs are on the corner. Low bushes are planted around the base of the buildings. Printed on the back of the card between the message and address sections: "135651 , Charles G. Hieronymus Photography, 65 Dolores Dr., Edison, N. J. 08817." A logo of a capital letter K within a triangle is in the lower left of the back of the card. There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. The printed caption on the back of the card gives the membership total for the year 1973, which indicates that the card was probably published around that year.

Trees frame the view of the building, and a grassy lawn is in the foreground, with a fire hydrant in the lower left of the image. At the bottom of the image in white letters is the title, "Administration Building - Bishop College - Marshall, Texas. 6-J-67." Bishop College was established in 1881 as a Baptist college for African Americans in Texas. The school moved to Dallas in 1961. The campus was sold the same year. Its buildings were demolished. There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. The format, quality, and number code are almost identical to another card in this collection with the publisher's name W. M. Cline Co., Chattanooga, printed on it, and this card was probably produced by the same company.

Bishop Hall, Bishop College, Marshall, Texas, 6-J-66

Black and white photo-postcard of Bishop Hall of Bishop College, Marshall, Texas. The 19th century brick building of three stories is five bays wide with the entrance door in the central bay with paired round arched windows above it at the second and third floor levels. There also is a small three-story wing attached on the right side. A one story porch with balcony above extends across the entrance and two windows on each side, and a small cupola stands on the ridge line of the roof. Trees frame the view of the building. At the bottom of the image in white letters is the title, "Bishop Hall - Bishop College - Marshall, Texas. 6-J-66" Bishop College was established in 1881 as a Baptist college for African Americans in Texas. The school moved to Dallas in 1961. The campus was sold the same year. Its buildings were demolished. There is no postmark or message on the back of the card. Business card for Arthur B. Chaffee, president of Bishop College in Marshall, Texas.
