Patent for a new and improved device for transplanting trees. This design consists, "in the combination, with a suitable head having pins or spikes around its edges, of a series of staves having transverse slots, with which the pins engage, and recessed on their edges to form openings for the roots to pass, and means for holding the staves together" (lines 83-89).

Cut-Out for Electric Circuits.
Patent for a new and improved cut-out for circuits. This design consists in "[a] cut-out for an incandescent lamp embodying, essentially, a magnet or solenoid in derivation from the filament, spring-contacts completing the circuit from the filament to the line on one side, and an armature-lever electrically connected with said magnet adapted to disrupt the circuit between said contacts and maintain the continuity of the circuit through itself" (lines 93-101).

This design consists "[i]n a fruit cutter, the combination of the pivoted knives having laterally-concaved facing sides and curved inward to the edges at the upper ends, the arms extending from one side of said knives near their lower end, and the vertically-moving guide-plate provided with the longitudinal guide-grooves parallel at their upper and lower portions and curving inward to meet at their centers, into which grooves the ends of said arms enter for the purpose of opening and closing said knives" (lines 22-32).

This design "has relation to that class of cotton and corn planters in which are hoppers smaller at their top than at their bottom and hoppers larger at their top than at their bottom, to adapt them for planting cotton-seed and corn, respectively. It is the object of the invention to provide the planter with interchangeable hoppers of the above construction, whereby either can be used upon the same machine, as found desirable, the hopper-seat being especially adapted to receive and hold thereon either one of the hoppers" (lines 12-24).

This design "consists of a drum or hollow cylinder journaled to a suitable frame, said drum being designed to receive the grain or seed through a suitable door or opening. This drum or cylinder has at each end a peripheral beveled flange, and centrally around the drum a series of holes, and an adjustable strap or band, also provided with holes, so that when this strap is secured around the drum and properly adjusted the seed or grain within the drum will pass through the holes as the drum rotates" (lines 17-28).
