A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Omar Burleson, House of Representatives, Washington, D. C., dated July 5, 1972. Burleson expresses his appreciation for Carswell's letter and kind comments noting their agreement on the need to maintain the Nation's security. He advises of the so-called Revenue Sharing proposal passing the House, of his vote against it and of the enclosed copy of dissenting views he filed with the Committee. An enclosure includesd a document titled "Additional Dissenting Views of Honorable Omar Burleson," a discussion by Burleson of a bill that he introduced in 1969 and again in 1971 to decentralize two programs bogged down with red tape. The Committee's bill does the opposite by compounding the existing over-centralization and costing the taxpayer. Good government is economical and efficient and provides services desired by the people.

A letter written to Mr. John H. Hewlett, Atlanta, Georgia, from T. N. Carswell, Sec.-Mgr. [Abilene Chamber of Commerce], dated July 5, 1938. Carswell advises Hewlett that he will not be with the Chamber of Commerce after that year.

A letter written to Underwriters General Agency Att. Betty Bray, from Les Clark, Great American of Dallas, Intra-Company Communication, dated July 5, 1962. Subject: Southern County Mutual Policy, Thomas N. Carswell. Clark notes his regret in losing this business.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Tom Connally, United States Senate, dated July 5, 1943. Connally expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell expressing approval and congratulations on Connally's sponsorship of the strike bill which was passed over the President's veto.

Letter from Tom C. Williams to W. B. Dickerson discussing interests of Earl Willard Meyer. Williams interviewed Earl, as well as Stella Meyer Heyssel and Herman Meyer who initially agreed to execute a guardian's deed, but have changed their minds. Earl wanted to divest all his interest in exchange for 480 acres in Sherman County. Earl and Stella also received $150.00 in cash from the Steigleder estate. Williams knows Earl's signature is not binding, so he has decided to let Herman (Earl's stepfather) decide how they should proceed with the interests. Williams confers with an attorney, John Stegner, who motions that Earl should give Williams an oil and gas lease by virtue of a guardian lease. This is a way for Herman and Earl to receive cash. However, they will not do anything at the current moment. Williams mentions other disputes between the heirs of the land. He suggest they try to obtain a guardian oil and gas lease in interest of Earl and to pay cash for the land in Sherman County.

Letter to W. J. Bryan thanking him for the previous letter he sent, reminiscing about their old days at Texas A&M and informing Mr. Bryan that he hopes they will meet during the next commencement.
