Postcard from Ora Osterhout to her family discussing recent events. She wrote on two separate postcards, and they are both addressed to Mr. J. P. Osterhout in Belton, Texas. There is a postmark for Bellville, Texas, but the date cannot be read clearly.

Postcard from Ora Osterhout to her father, John Patterson Osterhout, discussing what she has been doing in Fort Worth, Texas. On the back, it is addressed to Mr. J. P. Osterhout in Belton, Bell Co., Texas, and it is postmarked Fort Worth, Texas, July 23, 1891.

Oath of service in the Western frontier of Texas for Elijah Collar in the fall of 1842 under General Wall. The oath was taken by James J. Allphin and tracked where Private Collar went in the Western frontier. It stated that he served in R. Williams's company as a private. On the bottom, a notary public, James S. Fai[rl]y, certified the oath and added his seal to the paper.

Letter from David Osterhout to his brother, Orlando Osterhout, discussing his family. His children had gotten well after having the measles and he said they were doing well after moving to Texas. The hot weather was making it difficult for David to work and he wished he had money to buy cattle and sheep to lighten his work load. He hoped his letter found Orlando well and wanted to hear from him soon.

Letter from John Patterson Osterhout to his mother. He wrote to her to inform her about his family's affairs. He told her about his work and his affiliation with the radical Republican Party. In the letter, he stated that he believed they were the South's hope for prosperity.

Letter from E. Kirlin to his sister, Junia Roberts Osterhout. He wrote to let her know that a package had been sent out for her. He mentioned their mother being ill recently and a trip he was planning to take soon.

Letter from John Patterson Osterhout to his mother, Sarah Osterhout. He wrote to tell his mother that he would be unable to visit this year and spoke of how his family had been. The letter finishes with news regarding the frontier. John wrote that Indians raided nearby areas and took horses.

Letter from C. F. Hurlbut to John Patterson Osterhout. He wrote John to find out whether or not John still lived in Belton, Texas. Hurlbut wished to receive news of how John and his family were doing. Included is an envelope addressed to "Hon. J. P. Osterhout."

Letter from John Patterson Osterhout to his wife, Junia Roberts Osterhout. He wrote his wife from his travels and informed her that he had finished court, but would be unable to return home until he raised the means to get back.

A brief letter from Lydia to her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. George E. Osterhout, regarding the news Lydia had heard about their health. She hoped that her letter would find their health improving. Included is an envelope addressed to "Mr. and Mrs. Geo E. Osterhout."

Letter from J. H. James to John Patterson Osterhout regarding an outstanding debt. James was upset that John refused any aid for a debt that James was trying to repay despite the help James has given John's family over the years.
