Photograph of Bermuda grass seed. The seeding and fertilizing rate was 1/2 pound hulled NK-37 Bermuda seed with 125 lbs. 10-20-10 per acre at seeding time. Seed was mixed with fertilizer and planted in shallow furrows 18 inches apart with an EZEE-Flow fertilizer spreader with “Pray” furrowing device attached. OK-894-10.

Late June mowing has been practiced on this meadow since 1955, resulting in higher quality hay and increased yield from 3/4 ton per acre to 1 1/4 ton per acre in 3 years. Photograph of a completed stock pond – road fill project. 385 acres drainage area. This was a cooperative project between I.C. Ingram, Caddo County Commissioners, the Soil Conservation Service [SCS] and the Agricultural Conservation Program [ACP]. Ingram needed stock water and received assistance from ACP for that purpose. Caddo County Commissioners furnished extra yardage needed to make it suitable for a raod fill. Ingram has 400 acres in Caddo County and all of it is under a basic plan with the North Caddo Soil Conservation District [SCD]. He started work in 1945 and has been applying soil conservation practices each year. OK-891-3.

Photograph of re-seeded native pastures. Native grass died during drought of 1955 – 1956. Field was disc-plowed and seeded to a mixture of buffalo, blue grama and Sideoats grama in February 1957. Photograph of conservation training. A study of grasses and their adaptability is being conducted by Plant Material instructor, James E. Smith, on the grass plots grown cooperatively between Tarleton State College and the Soil Conservation Service Training Center. The trainees come from Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico along with one visitor from Indonesia.

Photograph of 20 acres Cornado sideoats planted Feb, 1948 in cultivated rows. It was fertilized and cultivated 1300 lbs. of certified seed was harvested Oct. 1958 or 65 lbs. per acre. This seed was used to seed 68 more acres of cropland and overseeded some poor stands of native grass pasture.
