Plastic Irrigation Installation
Photograph of plastic irrigation pipe being installed. This pipe will be deep enough to allow farming over it. It will have risers at proper intervals to do a complete irrigation job on this farm. Pipe is installed at $1. 75 per foot including risers and will carry from 500 to 600 gallons of water per minute. Test pressure of 80 lbs. can be carried in pipe. Plastic pipe makes the system permanent. Class I on 0 to 1% slope, Soil Unit 2-RR.

Photograph of Washita Watershed - Wildhorse Creek channel at the first section line crossing below Lake Humpreys on site 22. Only site 22 was discharging into creek above this location. At this time site 22 had a 5 foot rise over the principal spillway. Principal spillway is a 36 inch pipe.

Photograph of Washita Watershed, Wildhorse Creek site 22. Principal spillway is concrete pipe under the dam. At back toe of dam steel, galvanized, corrugated, 8 guage, asphalt coated culvert pipe was substituted for concrete pipe. The culvert pipe is leaking at joint, rivets, and seams. There was some vibration on the last joint of culvert pipe.

Photograph of area which used to be covered with sage like area shown in Okila. 10, 753. Olson(left) and SCS Tech. E. S. Cordell check up on grass growth. Olson sprayed sage once with 2, 4-D four years ago, withheld grazing for year, then grazed lightly for year and has grazed moderately since. Little & big bluestem, indian, swithc, blue and sideoats grama. Texas and Prairie blue and sand paspalum came back naturally; no reseeding. and range site in excellent condition.

Flood Erosion Highway Bridge
Photograph of stream bank cutting. Temporary stream bank erosion control measure. Bridge is located in a bend in the river and each time the water rises some more bank is eaten away near the end of the bridge. These trees are held in place by a cable and keep the water away from the raw bnk of the river. The section of bank from the man in photograph to the present location of bank was eroded away in one year.
