[Looking Back at Sanger's History]

Page from a scrapbook with two photos that appeared in the Sanger Courier's "Looking Back" issue. The first photo is of the owners of Collins-Andrews Dry Good Store which was reported to be the first dry goods store in Sanger. The second photo is of one of the early Post Masters of Sanger, H. D. Green, along with his family and other postal workers in front of a post office in early Sanger, Texas. Mr. Green was appointed Post Master in 1899 and reappointed at different times until 1925. At the bottom right middle is a photograph of Jesse P. Smith on his horse Snooper. The photograph in the right-hand corner is of Dottie Mae McBride, Otis McBride, Alene Duncan, and Reba Duncan on a horse.

This dance card for the Fourth of July Ball held at the Opera House in Denton in 1883 includes an order of dance, lists of committee members, and other information regarding the ball. The building would later be known as the Graham Opera House; it was located on the west side of the square. The music was by Professor Lawrence's band. The dance card belonged to Mrs. Will Williams.

(The building after three remodels is now the Emily Fowler Central Library) A painted map of the brands and historical points of interest in Denton County by Sena Mounts Wright is behind the desk. Flanking either side of the desk are the doors leading to the reading room and ornate cast iron plant holders with plants. According to an article from the January 26, 1949 issue of the Denton Record-Chronicle, a reproduction was commissioned by the Parent-Teacher Association and painted by Mrs. Irene Grady on the wall. Ms. Grady added a border to each side of the map depicting the old cattle brands of Denton County.
