Delma Abalos was born and raised in Odessa, Texas. She attended Odessa College as well as the University of Texas-Permian Basin. Abalos gained her undergraduate degree in political science and her master’s degree in history. She now teaches courses in history, including Mexican American history, at Odessa College. Delma also served within the Ector County ISD board of trustees.

Feliz Abalos was born (1979) and raised in Odessa, Texas. Abalos graduated from Odessa High School in 1996 a semester early and attended one spring semester at Sul Ross State University. She graduated from the University of Houston in 2001 and then attended law school at Ohio Northern University Abalos has been chair of the Ector County Democratic Party. She has worked in various local political campaigns since she was a child. Abalos was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Premium Basin Planned Parenthood.

Oral History Interview with Richard Abalos, July 7, 2016

Richard C. Abalos grew up in Rankin, Texas. After graduating early from high school, Abalos moved to Odessa, Texas where he attended Odessa College and worked for a law form as an investigator and aide. Before obtaining an undergraduate degree, Abalos entered law school at St. Mary’s University in San Antono, Texas. After law school, he was drafted into the military. Upon returning to Odessa, he became the city’s first Mexican American attorney and handled several civil rights cases, including the nationally recognized Larry Lozano police beating that galvanized the region’s Chicano Movement.

Windy Goodloe is a staff member at the museum of the Seminole Indian Scout Cemetery Association. Goodloe grew up in Brackettville, spending most of her early life with her grandparents. She recalled being usually one of very few African American students in the local schools, and in particular her relationship with Mexican American students. Goodloe attended Spellman College in Atlanta, but did not complete her degree; after several years in Atlanta, she returned to Brackettville to care for her grandparents. She talked at length about issues of identity, the history of Black Seminoles in Brackettville, and the current status of Fort Clark Springs as a gated community, among other topics.
