McGill discusses a report from the Texas Rangers advising that there is no other course for the Governor but to revoke the parole. The action is being postponed, however, until Carswell can look at the file.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Taylor County, Texas, Parole Board, Abilene, Texas, from Adult Authority by E. A. Burkhart, Executive Secretary, Sacramento 14, California, dated July 11, 1951. Burkhart replies to Carswell regarding the two requests for pardon informing him, that under California law, both subjects are on life paroles, therefore, the Authority cannot refix their sentences to terminate their paroles. Subjects must apply through the Governor's office.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Allan Shivers, Governor, Austin 11, Texas, dated July 19, 1951. Shivers expresses his appreciation for the "kind expression of interest" by Carswell in Shiver's future public service, to have this evidence of support of the substantial citizenship of this State. He congratulates Carswell on the splendid service he is rendering the State and the men under his supervision as Chairman of the Volunteer Parole Board in Abilene.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas from William L. McGill, Executive Secretary, Executive Department, Austin 11, Texas, dated July 19, 1951. McGill expresses his enjoyment of their visit while Carswell was in Austin, advises that he and Shivers will be "on the lookout" for the clemency cases mentioned and expresses their appreciation for the splendid service rendered by Carswell.
