Community Correspondence – Individual letters from concerned citizens regarding the closure of the 130th Airlift Wing, Air National Guard Unit at Yeager Airport in Charleston West Virginia

Quarterly return of ordnance and ordnance stores received, issued, and remaining on hand in Company "F," First Veteran Regiment New York Cavalry, for the second quarter in 1865. The return details the amount of serviceable and unserviceable small arms as well as the accoutrements, equipment, and appendages which corresponded to the small arms. The document also notes who the arms were received from and the person they were issued to during this quarter. The return was created by Capt. Hamilton K. Redway while he as stationed at Camp Piatt in West Virginia. It was signed by Redway on July 1, 1865.

Ordnance voucher turned over from H. K. Kertney, Captain 1st NY Veteran's Company, to W. M. Young, ordnance officer in Gallipolis, West Virginia. The regiment was mustered out of service and ordered away before a receipt could be obtained.

Kennedy would like to visit Charleston WV on private business. On back J. W. Rife grants permission.

Speech from H.K.Redway's personal papers. The speech details the sentiments that Redway felt at the close of the war as well as the joy he felt at seeing many of the men he served with still beside him in the end.

Postcard of a woman with her hair pinned up, eyes closed and lips parted. The picture is called "Curiosity." The letter on the postcard reads, "Wednesday, will write some Vivinnie is calling me now. We hare having more parties - Jassie." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1141 3rd Ave Huntington, W. Va."

Postcard of a well-dressed man and woman kissing behind a red umbrella. The note below the picture reads, "We are have some gay times now. Mamie is with me. Tell Blinkie "Hello" From Jassie." The back of the postcard continues with, "Why don't you ever write to me? I don't guess I write all you again before next I know as I write go to N. Y. by about Sep. 15. I certainly have heard some nice things about Louis C. Mat a young lady said." The postcard is addressed to "Miss Mamie McFaddin 1141 Third Ave. Huntington, W. Va."

Postcard addressed to Mr. James Lewis Caldwell, Jr. in Huntington, West Virginia. The image on the front of the postcard shows the Iroquois Hotel in Buffalo, New York. The handwritten message on the front of the postcard, signed V. M., says, "We are having a fine time. Going to Detroit this P.M. Crossed Lake Ontario yesterday going to Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Nigh and Gordou stopped here, the twenty-ninth."

Postcard of a woman with curled brown hair, wearing a fur stole around her shoulders over a blue dress with a white collar. The postcard adds further information with "Her Most Gracious Majesty Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia, eldest daughter of H. M. King Christian IX of Denmark, Queen and Consort of H. M. King Edward VII. Born 1st December, 1844. Married fourth March 1863." The letter is illegible, and the postcard is addressed to "Miss M. McFaddin 1141 3rd Ave. Huntington, W. Va., U.S.A."
