Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A huge paving project under way on the Oklahoma City fairgrounds is transforming more than nine acres of grassland around State Fair Arena into hard-surfaced parking lots. Believed to be the largest project of its type in the metropolitan area, the five parking areas will be constructed of soil-cement. C. C. Keller jr., state paving engineer for the Portland Cement Association, said it is the largest such project "in at least the last six years and probably longer" in the greater Oklahoma City. In making soil-cement, Portland cement is mixed with soil and water to create the base and the paving substance. A surface of asphaltic oil and limestone chips is rolled onto the top. The five lots under construction comprise 42,000 square yard, Keller said. Work is expected to be completed by June 1, barring exessive rainy weather. Earl Schweikhard, said the paving project was made possible through $75,000 voted by the city council. Of that amount for fairgrounds maintenance work, $40,000 is being spent on the parking lot construction he said. "The lots will be on all sides of the State Fair Arena," Schweikhard said. "Those grassy …

Caption: "Still burning and smoking is county landfill at SE 74 and Bryant operated by District 2 County Commissioner Frank Lynch, who was out of town today, first brought the fire to attention of the city-county health department explaining an 8-year old boy had set it. Dave Cleveland, director of environment health, said one of the problems was a heavy load of dumping over the weekend and not enough equipment to cover it properly. He said the landfill operator reported a long line of people waiting to dump Sunday. Some of them decided not to wait and instead got rid of their trash along the roadside."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A section of Oklahoma City's $5 millions, late type sewage plant with a secondary trickling filter in foreground can be seen above. There are eight such filters and four primary ones. Tanks at left are digesters where organic solids are taken from the water. Fertilizer and sewer gas are removed in this process. Except for electric lights, Oklahoma City's $5 million southside sewage disposal plant is self sufficent. That is, it operates entirely on its own power. Treated sewer water is used for hydrulic power to turn the huge fliter wheels. Pumping units are operated by sewer gas extracted from the sewage that pours into the plant at the rate of 20 million gallons a day. "if necessay we could even light the plant by generators operated by sewer gas," Frank Taylor, city superintendent of water and sewers, explained......Sewage is 99 1/2 percent water. The residue is hauled away, dried and a portion of it is sold to the Soil Booster Corp., a private industry which sells fertilizer. "Oklahoma City really sells 75 percent of its sludge for fertilizer and gives 25 percent to the city park department to …

Residents said they intend to clean up the annex and use it as a sanctuary until they can rebuild their church. It was the only Catholic church in Jones. Fire trucks from Oklahoma City, jones and Choctaw battled the blaze for an hour before it was brought under control."
