Tanks at left are digesters where organic solids are taken from the water. Fertilizer and sewer gas are removed in this process. Except for electric lights, Oklahoma City's $5 million southside sewage disposal plant is self sufficent. That is, it operates entirely on its own power. Treated sewer water is used for hydrulic power to turn the huge fliter wheels. Pumping units are operated by sewer gas extracted from the sewage that pours into the plant at the rate of 20 million gallons a day. "if necessay we could even light the plant by generators operated by sewer gas," Frank Taylor, city superintendent of water and sewers, explained......Sewage is 99 1/2 percent water. The residue is hauled away, dried and a portion of it is sold to the Soil Booster Corp., a private industry which sells fertilizer. That's the formula persons usein the vicinity of NW 6 and Robinson where the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. is constructing a nine-story $3,500,000 building. Sidewalk superintendents are plentiful. Most persons come rushing down the street headed on an errand. As they approach the construction job, they stop and look into the 30-foot pit where the foundation is being laid. After about five minutes, the ordinary watcher turns and heads on down the street...."I think they're building it about the way I got it figured out," one man said. "I've lived in this town many a year and there sure have been same changes." "I come by here every day and watch," he added. The Wind blows across the drying grass in the yard and shakes the rusty sign which has been planted there more than two years. fresh paint is on the deserted home. Inside repairs have removed the scars of the floods. But time and years of neglect have given the house of dead look. The wire fence has been trampled and debris is scattered over the backyard. Beyond, the marks of bulldozers and digging equipment bring the story of the deseretedhouse to a close......But the rampages of Deep Fork are done. City Engineer W. W. Baker offically announced last week that the nuddy creek was tamed. Work is expected to be completed within week but the new floodway now can handle any rain which might come up......The vicinity of NW 42 and Altadena was worst off in the whole mess. The creek winds through a deep canyon between towering cottonwoods. It sweeps behind several homes in a large bend which proved to be a bottleneck. Homeowners figured the creek …
