It is one of two elementry schools that were destroyed. Friday Tom Ellis, state fire marshal, condemned the junior highschool building. The Westwood school, shown here, was surrounded by homes before the storm. Friday there was not a house standing within three block. It is for the cleaning up of debris and the rebuilding of public buildings, streets and sanitation facilities that Woodward needs the $500,000 fundher residents have asked other state citizens to give."

(O-9-4-49: This was the way Madison Park grade school looked the day after the tornado struck. It was repaired, however, and was put back in use at the beginning of the 1948 school term, one of the few schools available for use at that time."
