Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "Straight and sound is the finished product of the amateur bridge builders. Those mountain cedar posts and heavy oak braces are figured to last for years and the cables and oak plank walkway should provide a safe, nut scary, river crossing for mountianeers. The next time rains send Little River surging up to the high water mark, folks around here are prepared for it. They have been working since last July to meet the problen. the job virtually finished now. The problem was this: during rainy season the riverm running from east to west, cuts through this hill country community like a wall, making travel from one section to the other impossible. The Indian highway, from Talihina to Broken Bow, crosses the stream here but there's only a low water bridge available to traffic. When the rains come that's quickly out of commission......When the U. S. Indian service built the Indian highway several years ago, and agreement was worked out with the Oklahoma highway department, community residents say The Indian service erected piers for a permanent highwater bridge across the Little river and the state was expected to complete …

Caption: "And He bearing His Cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull…" Upon that hill, Golgotha, a hill at once lonely, dreadful and supremely magnificent, Jesus of Nazareth was crucified on the day commemorated by this Good Friday. The scene when a mob brave in numbers but later cowardly in the realization of its crime led Him is depicted dramatically in this striking painting, "The Morning of the Crucifixion," by Ashely D. M. Cooper. The orginal of the painting, now on display in the University Place Christian cchurch, is being viewed here by Margie Green, 806 Northwest Sixteent Street. The artist Cooper made many attempts before finally achieving his ambition in this painting. The painting is valued at $25,000 and is now owned by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil I. Brooks, 929 Northwest Twenty-third street, members of the University Place church. The painting will be on view for the public to see until 9 p.m. Friday; from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Rev. O. James Sowell, pastor of the church, said."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "The state's largest single industry - Tinker Air Force Base - is fast zooming toward as all-time high annual payroll of $128 million. That is almost $98,500,000 more than the payroll for the base's first full year of operation chalked up in 1943 when the United States was involved in a full-scale war. Actually the base was activated in 1942 but payrolls could not be figured on an annual basis until 1943. Jump Likely Payroll, including military and civilian, at the end of 1961, totaled $126 million in round figures but with the anticipated addition of 592 employees within the year, the figure will fast jump to the $128 million mark, officials say. This represnts the money that approximately 19,399 people spend. Many of them - at least 11,000 - live in Oklahoma City. Another 2,616 live in Midwest City while Shawnee people commute in numbers totaling 908. Nearly 500 workers live at Norman and the rest of Tinker's personnel travel from Edmond, Bethany, Harrah, Jones, Nicoma Park, Spencer, McLoud, Tecumseh, Meeker, Guthrie, Seminole, El Reno and nearby Del City. The most highly paid personnel at Tinker include the …
