That is almost $98,500,000 more than the payroll for the base's first full year of operation chalked up in 1943 when the United States was involved in a full-scale war. Jump Likely Payroll, including military and civilian, at the end of 1961, totaled $126 million in round figures but with the anticipated addition of 592 employees within the year, the figure will fast jump to the $128 million mark, officials say. This represnts the money that approximately 19,399 people spend. Many of them - at least 11,000 - live in Oklahoma City.
