Letter from Dr. Edwin D. Moten to his son Don Moten, on April 12, 1946. Moten gives his son advice on getting into a good medical school, and assures him that he will help his son out whenever he needs it.

Letter from Dr. Edwin D. Moten to his sister Daisy Moten, on April 30, 1946. He asks her if she thinks she has done the right thing by remaining single after the death of her husband, and tells her that he is very happy with his second marriage. He thanks her for a Christmas present and an Easter card, and tells her that she is always welcome to visit his home.

Letter from Dr. Edwin D. Moten to his son Don Moten in Chicago, on April 30, 1946. He discusses his son's Hoosier Motor Club membership, and the fact that the Chicago Club doesn't accept Negro patrons. He also mentions Don's desire to go to school, and suggests staying in Chicago.

Letters from Dr. Edwin D. Moten: the first to Reverend L. E. Goodlow, on April 11, 1947; and the second to Ike S. Moten. This is a carbon copy with a letter on each side. The first letter discusses building projects, Moten's tenant in Texas, and medicine sent to Ike Moten. The second letter tells Ike Moten how to take the medicine Dr. Moten sent him.

In the first letter, he discusses the recovery of Josephine's sister from an accident, and hopes that she will get better. He mentions vacation plans for Hot Springs or the Mayo Clinic, as well as a trip to California. In the second letter, he sends his sympathies to his sister-in-law following her accident.

Based upon certain elements in the photograph and an article that appeared in the Denton Record-Chronicle, we believe that this photo was taken on either April 10 or 11, 1957. According to the article, "A pre-Centennial food show and household exposition was held at the Penn-Reynolds-Jones, Post 840, American Legion, 629 Lakey Street... The food demonstrations will be directed by Mrs. Hazel Washington of the Carver Kitchen. The general theme of the program depicts 100 years of Negro progress in foods and better homemaking. A quest contest will be conducted. Prizes will be awarded by Noble Holland, Legion post commander." "Amicable Ammons Belles attended. Mrs. Ruby J. Knight and the Belles entered the cake baking contest and won second place. Mrs. Rufus Ebron, mother of Miss Imogene Ebron, was awarded first prize." We do know that Noble Holland is pictured, second from the left. Mrs. Ruby J. Knight is first from the right. And the two prize winners, Mrs. Rufus Ebron and her daughter, Imogene, are also pictured.
