Williams, Supervisor, Southwest Area), dated April 16, 1958. Williams advises Carswell of the delay in his writing concerning the opening of a new Abilene District Office due to the shuffling of personnel in their Division and the recent completion of plans. He announces Mr. James Dennis as the District Parole Officer for Abilene and expresses his belief that Carswell will enjoy working with Mr. Dennis.

Carswell, Chairman, Taylor County Parole Board, from John Ben Shepperd, Administrator, Interstate Parole Compact (by Pauline Kirk, Chief, Parole Division,) Department of State, Texas, dated April 16, 1952. Kirk requests the delivery by Carswell to Subject 121,140 of the enclosed proclamations and, also, that Carswell file a copy. The enclosures includes two copies of a proclamation by the Governor of the State of Texas granting a ten-day extension of emergency reprieve to Subject No. 121,140, dated April 11, 1952 by Allan Shivers, Governor of Texas and John Ben Shepperd, Secretary of State.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated April 16, 1952. Johnson advises Carswell that General Key is on the opposite side of the political fence from Senator Kerr thus making him of no use. He discusses how a business matter grew out of a professional jealousy advising that his firm went through depression and war periods successfully and that competitors have the right to take action against a tough competitor. He offers help for Carswell's daughter and states, "I have high ranking friends if I can be of assistance to your daughter in Europe or here." Handwritten postscript is an advisement regarding "Jap bonds coming to life" and a settlement insuring good profits being not far off.
