He describes some "teacher friends" having exhibited little or no concern for the welfare of the whole just so their demands are met and advises that it is contrary to good government for the legislature to set the salary for local employees. Carswell conveys his "trust" that Senator Sadler and Representative Latimer are supporting the program advising copy of this letter is being sent to both men.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated April 23, 1952. Johnson expresses his appreciation for the letter from Carswell and suggests that Dr. White may remember Senator Kerr, noting that he already has a letter from Carl Rister to the Senator, but that having a letter from Dr. White, also, would make the matter even better.

Carswell explains to McCarran that as the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee McCarran represents him no less than he represents his constituents in Nevada, hence this letter concerning Judge McGranery, that McCarran cannot possibly believe such a man is qualified to be Attorney General of the United States.

Walton advises Carswell of the enclosed copy of the minutes of their meeting in Cisco regarding an organization for college students who are sons and daughters of World War Veterans, and he expresses his pleasure of having worked on the Committee with Carswell noting that he would see him at Hardin-Simmons for the inauguration of Dr. White.
