Painter, III, the Secretary-Treasurer of the San Jacinto Chapter of the Sons of the Republic of Texas, dated April 14, 1969, and printed on organization letterhead. The letter invites the Herrera family to participate in the San Jacinto Day Celebration to be held at the San Jacinto monument. A copy was also sent to Robert A. Sartwelle, President of the San Jacinto Chapter of the Sons of the Republic.

A letter written to Mr. Carswell from Lucie K. Whitehead, The Rice Hotel, Houston 2, Texas. Whitehead expresses her appreciation to Carswell for taking care of the payment of the income tax, advises of checks that have been enclosed and asks for the amount owed for his income tax services. Carswell noted that he answered on April 7, 1969.

A Hallmark birthday card sent to John J. Herrera from his son, Douglas M. Herrera. The front of the card is an image of a man fishing in a stream and the interior contains printed birthday poem. The card also includes a handwritten message concerning the death of Dr. King and Douglas' belief "The prospects for peace are now the best that have existed in a great while and was all hope that this war will be settled soon."

Letter to John J. Herrera from Delbert L. Atkinson typed on letterhead and dated April 25, 1967. In the letter, Atkinson apologizes for missing the Pasadena Rotary and requests the notes or script Herrera used for his speech as Atkinson collects speeches in respect to the old Texas Republic.

Birthday card to John J. Herrera from Sheppard W. King with a color illustration on the front cover depicting a cartoon character holding a sign that reads, "We need our Birthdays" and below it the words "I've always felt". The interior of the card consists of a color illustration of bare legs with a belt wrapped around them. The printed text says, "About like a nudist needs a belt! Many happy returns anyway!" The handwritten text in the card reads, "John - be careful - I know it scares the hell out of you when they start getting nude and dropping their chastity belt!!! Happy Birthday -Shep" The digital image also includes the envelope postmarked April 11, 1967

Also, Hernandez asks the companies if they would they like to put an advertisement in the convention booklet.

Letter dated April 14, 1966 from Toby P. Hernandez to Homer Leonard regarding advertisement and beer. The Local Breweries and Beer Distributorships can only support the LULAC convention through either purchasing advertisements or donating beer. Hernandez replies that LULAC will take the advertisements.
