Herrera from General Chairman Reynaldo de la Garza and Bennie Cantu from the San Antonio LULAC Council No. 2 inviting Herrera to the "traditional Feria de las Flores" (which translates to the Flower Show) which is a dinner dance that raised money for the LULAC Scholarship Fund. Herrera was invited to attend as the guest of honor to the dinner dance on Friday, April 30th at the Seven Oaks Country Club. "This particular evening has been set aside especially for the purpose of honoring our former 'Reyes Feos', all of you will receive the recognition at this dinner dance to which you are so justly entitle." The translation of "Reyes Feos", is "The Ugly Kings" which is a non-profit organization that raises money for scholarships that are awarded to deserving Texas students.

Letter to John J. Herrera from Gus C. Garcia of Miller, Garcia & Curry Law Offices in San Antonio, Texas, dated April 23, 1948. Garcia references his "campaign" and thanks Herrera for his publicity during the campaign. There is also mention made of a banquet that Herrera has offered to hold in Garcia's honor.

Letter from Edward D. Garza, mayor of San Antonio, to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. He writes to thank him for his participating in the Steering Committee for The Cultural Collaborative (TCC): A Plan for San Antonio's Creative Economy. The committee was put in place to find solutions to support art and cultural programs in the city. With its planning stage over, he discusses the future of the committee, including a new committee to be formed. He invites him to submit nominations for members.

Letter from Henry B. Gonzalez, member of the House of Representatives, to Sterling Houston, prominent San Antonio playwright. Houston wrote to Gonzalez in a prior correspondence about Out of a Time of Plague, one of his stage plays, fearing censorship. Mr. Gonzalez promises to continue to support funding for the National Endowment of the Arts and artistic expression.

Letter from Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez to Jeffrey Simpson congratulating him on acceptance of his appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point. Also included is a signed certificate indicating Simpson's acceptance of his appointment. There is a small piece of paper attached to the front of the letter with a note from Thelma Andrews, a member of the San Antonio chapter of The Links, Inc. addressed to chapter president Margaret Winn. Both the letter and certificate of acceptance are photocopies.

Letter from Mario Marcel Salas, president of the Black Coalition on Mass Media, to the complaints and compliance division of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). It seems that, after buying a political advertisement to air on KAPE radio, the BCMM's ad was pulled from the air by the station when an official from the FCC ruled it to be a personal attack. The letter Mr. Salas sends is to inquire about the validity of the ruling, if such a ruling even occurred.
