Sandefer as President of Hardin-Simmons University and offers his opinion that Rupert [Rupert N. Richardson] should be asked first. Carswell defends his opinion, noting the probability of "Dossie" being selected for the job thus requesting that "Dossie" encourage the selection of Rupert, in order to keep Rupert at Simmons, then the offer of the presidency would be made in due course to "Dossie".
