Patent for a combined hedge-trimmer and mower "by which the side and top of a hedge can be trimmed at the same time"(lines 11-13)

Patent for a new and improved cantilever. This design consists in "the combination of the central post or column supported upon a pier or tower, the upwardly-inclined struts or beams bearing with the inner ends against the base of the post or column, the rods or cables extending from the top of the post to the ends of the struts, the rods or cables extending from the middle of the post to near the inner ends of the struts, the rods or cables extending from the ends of the struts to the middle of the post" (lines76-86).

Patent for a new and improved nut lock. This design "consists in a friction roller held loosely between two nuts, or between a nut and any object to be held by a bolt, which roller, when the nut or lock-nut is screwed down upon it, binds the nut or nuts upon the bolt and locks them securely thereon" (lines 11-16).

Patent for a new and improved water gauge. This design "consists in the arrangement of a chamber attached to the lower valve of an ordinary water-gage; and the object of [the] improvement is to prevent the foam and sentiment of steam-boilers from accumulating in the glass, stuffing-boxes, and valves of water-gages" (lines 8-14).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists "[i]n a car-coupler, the coupler having at its forward end a loop or link, hook, and connected rigidly with the ball or any suitable device moving in a passage" (lines 78-81).

Patent for a new and improved door check. This design "consists in providing the door with a sliding rod, which is adapted to be actuated so as to engage with a retaining-block attached to the floor by the knob-shank, which is provided with a dog for raising and lowering the rod" (lines 17-22).

Patent for a new and improved hilling-plow. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the beam, the stock, and the pivoted heel-bar, of the adjustable brace connecting said stock and heel-bar together, and the adjustable brace connecting the said brace with the rear of the beam" (lines 63-68).

Patent for a new and improved regenerator for compound engines. This design "consist[s] of a casing surrounding a steam-cylinder and connected with the uptake-flue, dampers being provided for closing the uptake and the entrance therefrom to the said casing, whereby the products of combustion may be either directed through the uptake or through the casing around said cylinder" (lines 46-53).

Patent for a new and improved apparatus for hoisting concrete. This design consists in "[t]he combination of shaft, drum, rope, and bar with the mold formed of [the] plank and with [the] frame . . . [t]he planks of the mold, made with rabbeted ends and provided with clamps . . . [and] [t]he combination of angle-pieces, bars, and clamping-screws with the mold-planks . . . [and] [t]he combination, with the planks of a concrete-mold having beveled ends, of angle-pieces, also having beveled-ends, and provided with screws for clamping the plank" (lines 71-83).

Patent for a new and improved plow. This design "relates to an improvement in plows; and it consists in the peculiar construction of the mold-board" (lines 6-8).
