Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the draw-head provided with the hole through its under side and the vertical guide-grooves in its exterior sides, of the stirrup sliding in said grooves and provided with a tongue at its lower and hooks at its upper parts, and a lifting-device—such as a rod or bar—adapted to engage with the upper part of the stirrup for raising it in the said external guide-grooves and causing the said tongue to raise the coupling-link in the draw-head" (lines 4-14).

Patent for a new and improved fishing tackle. This design is "to provide a snaring device which will, so far as possible, insure a capture; to so arrange the hooks as to prevent a loss of bait, and to provide a device capable of ensnaring as many fish as may at the time of lifting the snare by nibbling at the bait. . . . the invention consists in a spacing-ring, preferably formed of lead or other heavy metal and having a central hub and having a series of hooks radiating from the tub and secured to the ring, and in locating above the hub and at the center of a series of hooks a bait-support" (lines 11-24).

Apparatus for Protecting Electrical Circuits.

Patent for an apparatus for protecting electrical circuits, and is an improvement on a previous patent (No. 537,932) issued to the inventor. This patent consists of "an electrical circuit, an alarm or indicator, a continuously-operating signal-transmitter at the protected structure operating to affect or influence the alarm or indicator, and a second or duplicate continuously-operating signal-transmitter located at the watchman's station, operating in unison with the first-named signal-transmitter to affect the alarm or indicator equally and oppositely as regards the first-named transmitter, whereby a signal is sounded or an alarm given only when the two transmitters are out of unison or when one is changed, varied, or interfered with in an unauthorized manner" (lines 72-86).

Patent for an automatic electric alarm meant to be hooked up to an automatic dry-pipe sprinkler system, and protects against fire. The alarm goes off when the air in the sprinkler pipes falls below a predetermined level. This invention also signals an alert when there is a leak in the pipes, and is an improvement on the circuit-wires for similar alarms.

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and efficient cotton loading and weighing device for wagons. It can be easily put onto or removed from any wagon. This invention has a unique way of "clamping-loop or wire support by means of which the main inclined beam or support of the device is firmly and securely upheld and braced with relation to the tail-gate of a wagon with which said clamping frame or loop is adapted to engage" (lines 25-31).
