Lee inquires of Carswell whether or not Bob Wagstaff is a good speaker and explains that he is thinking of asking him to speak to their Lions Club. He notes his regret that it was necessary for Carswell to resign his place in the Defense Guard.

Letter from James A. Roberson to Truett Latimer discussing recommendations made by the State Board of Education about the state film library and the establishment of film centers. Roberson, who includes a copy of the recommendations with his letter, writes that the proposal will help provide all schools with educational films and financial assistance from the state while leaving implementation up to local authorities. He also mentions that the Texas Congress of Parents and Teachers and the Texas State Teachers Association have endorsed the recommendations and asks Latimer to support it as well.

Whiting expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the beautiful tie, advises that he and Nora enjoyed the letter and hope that he, Byrd and Peg are "getting along alright" ending with a wish to Carswell for a prosperous New Year.

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Abilene, Texas, from Rupert, R. H. Johnson & Co. Investment Securities, New York 5, N. Y., dated January 4, 1950. Johnson expresses his appreciation to Carswell for the thought and for the tie for Christmas. He advises that he put some Florida Power & Light stock into Carswell's account noting the prospects of the company as excellent.

Carmeron advises Subject 130,969 that the transfer to Abilene is in progress instructing Subject to show this letter to the Taylor County Parole Board Chairman and to report to him in the future.
