Mood then describes how Southwestern has experienced an encouraging influx of students at Christmas and expects more by 21 February, the beginning of the spring term. The university enjoys a high level of scholarship, and Mood hopes for continued blessings for the school.

Stone has talked to Dr. Connor, and the latter is willing to pay the rent as soon as he knows Mrs. Carmer's prorate share.
