Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Nichols Hills' "golf-ball" water tower at Westminister and Greystone sprang a leak Wednesday morning, sending 250,000 gallons of water cascading through the streets. Clyde Fawcett, 2100 Westchester, who lives directly west of the tower in The Village, said it sounded like a waterfall at 10:15 a.m. Valve Closed Nichols Hills officials arrived shortly afterward and shut off the water. City Manager George Bixler said, "I don't believe it is anything serious. We just hated to lose the water. Apparentlythere was a malfuntion in the equipment due to a sticking of one of the valves." There was no disruption in water service to Nichols Hills residents as there are two other tanks holding 2.5 million gallons of water...Wednesday's mishap emptied the huge storage tank and city officials estimated it will take a day to refill the tower after repairs are completed.
