Letter from Tom Reavley to the 55th Texas Legislature discussing a report submitted to Governor Shivers by a committee appointed to study securities laws and regulations in Texas. Reavley writes that along with a copy of the report, the committee has submitted a draft of a revision of the current securities law, and he provides a summary of five changes in the suggested bill. The changes include the creation of an office of Securities Commissioner, an additional registration procedure with the Securities Exchange Commission, a requirement that offers be made by prospectus, requiring bonds of $10,000 each from securities dealers and $5,000 from salesmen, and an exemption for any issue which does not exceed $25,000.

Latimer, who is a member of the Appropriations Committee, writes that he is hopeful they can give the hospital an increased appropriation but they will likely not get everything they asked for since requests from other state agencies and organizations exceed expected revenue. He also mentions that the legislature has given state employees a raise during the past two sessions and he is confident they will do so again.
