Design of a Groundwater Sampling Network for Minnesota (open access)

Design of a Groundwater Sampling Network for Minnesota

From introduction: This folio was compiled to facilitate the use of groundwater as a sampling medium to aid in exploration for hitherto undiscovered deposits of uranium in the subsurface rocks of Minnesota. The report consists of the following sheets of the hydrogeologic map of Minnesota: 1) map of bedrock hydrogeology, 2) generalized cross sections of the hydrogeologic map of Minnesota, showing both Quaternary deposits and bedrock, 3) map of waterwells that penetrate Precambrian rocks in Minnesota. A list of these wells, showing locations, names of owners, type of Precambrian aquifers penetrated, lithologic material of the aquifers, and well depths is provided in the appendix to this report.

Experimental Investigations of a Fin Protuberance Partially Immersed in a Turbulent Boundary Layer at Mach 5 (open access)

Experimental Investigations of a Fin Protuberance Partially Immersed in a Turbulent Boundary Layer at Mach 5

Various flow visualization results at a nominal Mach number of 5 are presented for cylindrically blunted, unswept and 60-degree swept fins with and without small clearance gaps, partially immersed in a turbulent boundary layer of about 2.6 inches thickness. In addition, pressure and heat transfer measurements were obtained on the flat plate upon which the fin was mounted. Oil smear, azobenzene and Schlieren flow visualization tests were made.

Preliminary Raw Data Release: Charlotte 1° x 2° NTMS Area, North Carolina and South Carolina

From abstract: This report presents preliminary results of stream sediment and ground water reconnaissance in the Charlotte National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) 1° x 2° quadrangle. Stream sediment samples were collected from small streams at 1254 sites for a nominal density of one site per 13 square kilometers (five square miles) in rural areas. Ground water samples were collected at 759 sites for nominal density of one site per 25 square kilometers (ten square miles).
