He talks about the lack of shotgun shells and metal bathtubs during the Second World War, the courtship and marriage of his wife, the Cowboy Turtle Association, selling hand-made goods at rodeos, the Dallas Sportatorium, and professional wrestling. Interview with Roy Eschmann, a Army WWII veteran from Dallas, Texas who was present at the attack on Pearl Harbor. Eschmann discusses joining the Army, basic training, assignment to Schofield Barracks and the 25th Infantry Division, his duties and daily life, Japanese friends on Hawaii, preparation for war, guard duty on the night of December 6/7th, the morning of the attack and shooting at Japanese aircraft, patrols afterwards and fear of invasion, rumors, and later service.

Interview with Charles Kingsley, a Texas National Guard WWII veteran from Dallas, Texas, who served in the 112th Cavalry. Kingsley discusses his upbringing, joining the Guard, the Louisiana Maneuvers, deployment to New Caledonia, his troop's machine gun section/platoon, Woodlark Island, the Battle of Arawe, New Guinea and the Battle of Drinumor River, the Battles of Leyte and Luzon, his thoughts on the generals he served, and thoughts on the 112th.

Interview with Carlton J. Killgo, a Army Air Corps WWII veteran and POW from Slocum, Texas, who was shot down and captured by German forces. Killgo discusses enlisting in the Air Corps before the war, training and becoming a B-17 crewmember, deployment to England, his missions, getting shot down, capture by German civilians, transfer to Stalag Luft #4, experiences in internment there, liberation by the Soviet Army, and return to the United States.

Interview with Warren Whitson Jr., a WWII veteran, businessman and former mayor of Denton, Texas, from Denton. Whitson discusses his family background, his first jobs and education, his family's canning business, joining the Army Air Force and becoming a bomber pilot, flying B-17s in the European theater, his marriage, building a house, his businesses, becoming involved in the city, and the development of Denton over time.

Interview with George Payne, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Pilot Point, Texas. Payne discusses his family background, growing up and grade school, joining the CCC in Denton, going to Arizona and building a trail in Bontia National Park, leaving the CCC and joining a second time, assignment to Baggs, Wyoming, operating a bulldozer, recreation, camp facilities and organization, food, leave, pay, classes, new guys and hazing, and some reflections on the impact of the Corps.

Interview with Lloyd Shipman, a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from Dallas, Texas. Shipman discusses his family and education, the impact of the Great Depression, joining the CCC and assignment to Bartlett, Texas, work as a typist, discipline and regimentation in the camp, daily routine, education services, recreation, and his thoughts on the impact of the CCC. In appendix are a chapter from an autobiography by Shipman, and two poems that he wrote.

Interview with Gale E. Nevill, a Army WWII veteran from Houston, Texas. Nevill discusses his family background and upbringing, jobs in the oil business, joining the National Guard, attending Rice University, getting commissioned, overseeing a Civilian Conservation Corps camp, working through the Depression, activation and assignment to 6th Army HQ, deployment to Brisbane, 6th Army operations in the South Pacific and Philippines, the end of the war and life afterwards.

Interview with T. L. Smyth, an Army WWII veteran from Mount Vernon, Texas, who was at Fort Ruger on Oahu during the Attack on Pearl Harbor.
