The problem of this thesis consists primarily of a bacteriological survey of the eating utensils of Hardin College Cafeteria and twenty-five other eating establishments in the city of Wichita Falls, Texas. This investigation was made primarily with reference to a determination of the possible presence of typhoid and related organisms, and secondarily to an investigation of the actual presence of those bacterial organisms associated with the more common outbreaks of food poisoning.

The problem undertaken in this investigation is to determine the value of using audio-visual aids in the fifth-grade social studies program of the Austin Elementary School, Wichita Falls, Texas.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to make an investigation of the home-room programs of the junior high schools in Wichita Falls, Texas, to discover what social guidance, if any, is offered to students; (2) to set up criteria for evaluating a social guidance program in a junior high school; and (3) to evaluate the social guidance programs of the home rooms in the junior high schools in Wichita Falls, Texas, in terms of the criteria set up for evaluation.

This investigation concerned two major interests of many classroom teachers today: the pupils' social maturity and their personality. The problem was to determine the apparent relationship between these two factors in pupils of the first, second, and third grades of eight elementary schools in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The opinions of individuals may be influenced by groups of different gender configurations. This influence was studied by asking college students to respond to a series of statements in pretest and post-test settings. Post-test settings included the use of manipulatively constructed confederate groups to influence the subjects' responses. A pretest was administered in an anonymous nonthreatening environment. Within a week, the subjects were post-tested in a setting with four "confederates" who had previously been instructed to unanimously voice opposite answers to the subjects' initial responses to pretest questions. The objective of this experiment was to determine the number of opinions that were changed when confronted with opposing views. Change of opinions between pretest and post-test were considered to be operational definitions of "conformity."

An inadequate music education program should give rise to some thought and action on the part of any serious-minded progressive teacher in that field, It is not enough to suspect or to discover faults, but a way to improve the situation should be attempted. Best practices should be evaluated and objectives formulated for future procedure through cooperative planning.

The problem is to determine to what extent there is a relationship between a child's personality and his intelligence. As a basis for such a comparison, a study was made of sixty-two sixth-grade pupils in the Benjamin Franklin School in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The purpose of this study is to learn to what extent the point of view of patrons of Wichita Falls, Texas, has a background of progressivism or of essentialism and to what extent, if possible, the children are influenced in school by the point of view held by the parents; also which part of the school system -- general education, the curriculum, the child, or the administration -- has the most progressive approval of the parents.

Wastewater effluent produced in the fiberglass manufacturing industry contains a significant amount of total suspended solids. Environmental regulations require pretreatment of effluent before it is discharged to the municipal wastewater treatment plant. Chemical precipitation by coagulation and flocculation is the method of pretreatment used at the Vetrotex CertainTeed Corporation (VCT). A treatability study was conducted to determine conditions at which the VCT Wastewater Pretreatment Plant could operate to consistently achieve a total suspended solids concentration ≤ 200-mg/L. Jar tests varied pH, polymer dosage, and ferric sulfate dosage. Total suspended solids and turbidity were measured to evaluate treatment performance. The data were used to determine an optimum set of conditions under project guidelines. Of twelve polymers screened, BPL 594 was selected as the most effective polymer. For cost efficiency in the wastewater pretreatment operation, recommendations suggested that treatment chemical injection be electronically controlled according to turbidity of the treated effluent.

This study concerns the contributions of Kelley Ezell to Air Force Education Services Programs and examines the impact of his educational leadership in developing the Education Services Program at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas, into its current position as an officially recognized Air Force leader in program excellence. It determines the effects of his leadership on subsequent leaders in the Sheppard Education Services Center and identifies the systems and procedures which contribute most significantly to the Center's success.

They may or may not be interested in the same activity. It has been said that behavior is caused. If behavior is caused, then, to know the interests of children may be very valuable in diverting or guiding their activities which are desirable to help them better fit themselves to the society in which they live. Thus, the problem of this thesis is to discover the interests and activities of a seventh-grade group of boys and girls attending Huey School, Wichita Falls, Texas.

This study attempts to determine to what extent the patrons of Iowa Park School are progressive or traditional in their educational thinking by obtaining at first hand their reactions to some of our present-day educational practices, which authorities in the field agree are progressive or traditional. It also attempts to determine whether such factors as sex and economic status influence educational attitudes of parents, and whether the parent's viewpoint affects the scholastic achievement of the child.

The purpose of this study is three-fold: (1) to make a study of the attendance records of Latin American children in the Wichita Falls Public Schools to determine the extent of non-attendance and withdrawals; (2) to study factors causing this non-attendance and withdrawals; and (3) to plan some remedial measures to improve the educational opportunities and improve the attendance of these children.

The purpose of the study is to classify the retarded children from the viewpoint of selection for special education to determine the probable percentage of slow-learning children in the elementary school, and to evaluate the provisions made for the retarded group.

This study investigated the role of selected variables on organizational commitment in selected organizations in a North Texas metropolitan area. The selected (independent) variables were orientation attendance, unit size, educational level, gender, age, and length of service. Organizational commitment score was the dependent variable. The Organizational Commitment Questionnaire and a demographic questionnaire were administered to 1,055 employees. The Organizational Commitment Questionnaire contained fifteen statements which measured employees' feelings about their organization. Multiple regression was used to determine the relationship between organizational commitment and the selected variables at the .001 level of significance. It was determined that gender and length of service showed the strongest significant relationship on organizational commitment. This model shows that the six independent variables account for only 3 percent of the variance in the relationship between organizational commitment and the selected variables. Therefore, approximately 97 percent of the unexplained variance is accountable for the organizational commitment of the employees at the selected organizations used in this study. Studies using the Organizational Commitment Questionnaire to show the relationship between organizational commitment and other antecedents of organizational commitment are recommended. To determine whether the physical make-up or format of the book has any influence on the selection of books. 4. To find how these interests are related to classroom work.

The problem is to determine why fifteen lower grade pupils were absent from school so many times during the previous year and to ascertain whether the pupils' attendance records could be improved in the present year through arts and crafts.
