Car Coupling.

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design consists in "the link having a hooked front end, the lever, spring between the front end of the lever and the link, slide-bar pivoted to the rear end of the lever, the spring-actuated latch on the said bar, having the pin thereon to engage in a socket in the bottom of the car, and the retractile spring at the outer end of the lever" (lines 11-19).

Patent for a simple and efficient knee-pad "made of leather or other pliable material, padded with a yielding lining to give comfort to the wearer" (lines 9-11). It prevents gravel, moisture, and other things from injuring the knee of the user.

Patent for a new and improved rule-gage. This design "relates to improvements in gages for carpenter's rules; and it consists of a gage formed of sheet metal adapted to be detachably applied to an ordinary two-foot rule to convert it instantly into a gage-rule" (lines 7-11).
