Interviews with Coke R. Stevenson concerning his experiences as a member (1929-1939) and Speaker (1933-1937) of the Texas House of Representatives, as Lieutenant Governor (1939-1941), and as Governor (1941-1947). The interview also includes his observations concerning William Jennings Bryan, Miriam Ferguson, James Allred, and Franklin Roosevelt. Appendix includes transcript of September 11, 1970 speech by Coke Stevenson at the Texas Woman's University campus before the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Interview with Judge Ed Gossett, judge of the Criminal District Court in Dallas, Texas. In the first interview, Gossett discusses his childhood in Louisana and Texas, his undergraduate education at the University of Texas at Austin, his time as a lawyer and as district attorney for the 46th judicial district, and his election to Congress in 1938. The second interview includes Gossett's discussion of his tenure as a Congressman.

Interview with T. L. Smyth, an Army WWII veteran from Mount Vernon, Texas, who was at Fort Ruger on Oahu during the Attack on Pearl Harbor. Smyth discusses joining the Army and assignment to coast artillery, training, promotion, life in the peacetime Army, combat on the morning of December 7th, the aftermath of the attack and events of the following evening, and later service.

Lowe discusses his experiences aboard the USS Neosho during the attack on Pearl Harbor, including training through the V-6 Naval Reserve Program, assignment to the Neosho, life and work aboard the ship, encountering possible Japanese submarines before the attack, being wounded during the attack and evacuated, recovery, and service afterwards.

Interview with William Coffey, a Navy WWII veteran from Hopkins County, Texas. Coffey discusses joining the Navy in 1937, boot camp in San Diego, service aboard the USS Oklahoma (BB-37), transfer to submarines in the Philippines, the bombing of Cavite Navy Yard at the start of the war, assignment to the S-41 as a cook, combat around the Solomon Islands, attaining submarine qualifications, patrolling the northern Pacific, the character of the crew, transfer to the USS Sterlet (SS-392), patrols, medical leave, and service postwar.
