Photograph of a waterway planted to Bermuda grass sprigs in April, 1949 and then cotton was planted in the same bed with sprig. In the cultivation of cotton a good cover of grass resulted. The waterway was overseeded to King Ranch bluestem in April, 1950. The waterway is 100 feet wide. TX-47, 510.

Photograph of eight acres of sweet clover planted in late October. The day before this picture was taken [taken on 1/28/1944}, 17 hogs, 1 horse, 24 grown cattle, 1 Brahma bull, and 10 calves were put out to graze and were still grazing by March 7, 1944. Top wall eaten off. Sweet clover was planted on different dates and fields are pastured by use of electric fences to graze in rotation. TX-41, 435.

Photograph of aerial view of range cover evaluation plot 17. Bare ground, poor condition; unused. No cover, except algea crust on soil surface. Soil splashed was 21,824 lbs. per acre, detachability 27% of standard sand. Water retained on plot during 20 minute test was 0. 95 in. , 47% water lost 1. 07 in. , 55%.

Photograph of a diversion terrace that cuts water out of a field showing at the right. Part of the field had a deep gully unfit for cultivation before the diversion cut the water out of it. The grass on the terrace is Bermuda. It is mowed regularly and utilized for grazing. TX-42, 413.
